Married four times – The power of proper briefing
Posted on 21 February, 2025 by JobnetAfrica
Have you ever spoken to someone that told you they have been married 4 times, and every time they got a divorce, it was obviously the other persons mistake or fault? Right.
When I was speaking to a prospective client that was looking to fill a CEO role for a business in Congo, they told me that they had gone through 4 executive search firms before they contacted us. That made me scratch behind my ear a little bit.
So, I asked them what had happened and what the process had been, and it dawned on me why the person that was telling me this, being quite frustrated by then. It turns out he did not brief the recruiter properly.
If you don’t brief the recruiter properly, then how can you expect them to understand what they are supposed to deliver to you? So, my advice to you is, if you’ve worked with a recruiter before or a search agent and you’re not content about the results, think back and think about the briefing that was done to start the search off.
Because in my opinion, the better the briefing is, the better the results will be. Just wanted to make that clear.
