Vacancy description

A fast-growing agri-processing business specializing in avocado and other natural oils is expanding its footprint across East Africa. With a new factory in Kenya and additional operations in Uganda and Cameroon, the company is building a high-integrity, professional supply chain that connects smallholder farmers, brokers and processors to global markets.

The organization is entrepreneurial, hands-on and growth oriented. Decisions are made quickly, responsibility is given early, and strong performance is recognized.

The company is creating a new position for a Supply Chain Manager to professionalize and scale its avocado sourcing across East Africa (Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi).

This is a highly field-based role. The successful candidate will spend much of their time with farmers, brokers, field officers and transporters to ensure that the right quality and volume of avocados reach the factory at the right time and price.

You will design and implement a more structured supply chain (processes, systems, data) and lead a team of field officers/coordinators, with potential for further expansion as volumes grow.

This role suits someone with strong procurement and origin-level supply chain experience, who combines data-driven thinking with practical field execution and very high integrity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage end-to-end avocado sourcing across Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and Burundi.
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality and competitively priced supply.
  • Strengthen and expand farmer and broker networks.
  • Implement structured processes, systems and data tools for field operations.
  • Lead and develop a team of field officers.
  • Monitor supply KPIs, costs and performance.
  • Uphold strong ethics, compliance and traceability.

Candidate Requirements
  • 5+ years in procurement or agricultural supply chain; experience in fresh produce preferred.
  • Strong experience working at farm/origin level with rural suppliers.
  • Proven ability to manage field-based teams and build competitive supply chains.
  • Data-driven, hands-on, and willing to travel extensively.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • High integrity and cultural adaptability. (speaking Swahili is preferred)
