About the Role:
As General Procurement Manager, you will oversee the General Procurement category, ensuring operational excellence, commercial growth, and strategic supplier development to support the Technical Business Unit’s long-term objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
Commercial Management & Business Development
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, ensuring ongoing business success.
  • Research target markets and prospective clients; prepare tailored proposals for the technical segment.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities to support the category's growth.
  • Conduct both local and international market trips to nurture partnerships and grow market share.
  • Source new suppliers and products locally and globally to strengthen the competitive edge.
  • Lead supplier negotiations to secure the best terms for the business unit.
  • Shape the strategic roadmap for the development and positioning of the category.

Operational Excellence
  • Develop, implement, and monitor procurement policies, procedures, and checklists for the team.
  • Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of commercial and technical proposals.
  • Handle claims and maintain high service standards within the department.
  • This is a hands-on position; you will also directly prepare proposals and oversee order processing in collaboration with the logistics team.

Team & Performance Management
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and strategic activity analysis.
  • Lead and mentor a small team of buyers, ensuring workload, productivity, and quality targets are met.
  • Foster skill development and professional growth within the team.
  • Oversee timely staff performance appraisals and provide ongoing coaching and support.

Your Profile:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Engineering or any related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of work experience in procurement or a related field.
  • Willingness to travel in Africa - approximately 1 week per month.
  • Proven leadership track record, with strong negotiation and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong commercial acumen and project management capabilities.
