Key Role:
The core focus of the Operations Manager to lead, control, manage and co-ordinate the activities of the production and maintenance teams to ensure continuity of business operations in accordance with ISO 9001 &14001 certifications and in a view of continuous improvement.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a Master’s Degree/MBA advantageous
- 10+ years experience in Operations Management in a production/processing environment with strong leadership experience
- Industry experience in processing of natural minerals, mining or construction related sectors preferred
- Expertise in the production and maintenance operations of machinery and equipment in industrial settings
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 & 14001 certifications and continuous improvement practices (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma)
- In-depth knowledge of safety, health, and environmental regulations, local compliance standards and best practices related to industrial and manufacturing environments
Accountabilities:
You are accountable to the General Manager for:
- Establishing targets in areas such as equipment reliability, service standards and monitor the performance of all maintenance and production activities against stated goals.
- Liaising with the General Manager in other areas to develop and implement production & maintenance strategies that will align with the organisation’s current and future goals.
- Establishing and overseeing production, maintenance & operating budgets.
- Monitor the cost and effectiveness of production & maintenance activities to optimize resources, prioritize spending and achieve throughput.
- Identify, research, and prepare recommendations on significant changes that need to be made to resources, procedures, systems, equipment or technology.
- Negotiating large or strategically important supplier and vendor contracts (for example constructing new facilities, installing new production lines) to secure terms that are in the organization’s best interest.
- Lead, direct, evaluate and develop a team of workers and others to ensure that maintenance and production activities meet established targets and standards.
- Providing technical assistance where necessary and provide support to the General Manager.

- The efficient implementation of CLP Policy, allocating resources, establishing and supporting the overall Safety, Health and Environmental management standards.
- Compliance with aspects of CLP standards outlined in EMP and the plan of the company in Health, Safety and Environment issues.
- Duty of care responsibility as an employer to provide and maintain, so far as practicable, safe and healthy working environment.
- Seeking and demonstrating continuous improvements in Health and Safety performance in production and maintenance activities.
- Adequately informing yourself of all applicable Ghanaian laws, acts and regulations as pertain to CLP’s business.
- Ensuring that production and maintenance staffs and contractors are adequately informed of and understand their duties with regards to health, safety and environment issues.
Human Relations:
The important human relations matters on which your performance will be assessed are:
- Display strong organisational planning and priority setting, leadership and excellent communication skills in manner that would promote the reputation of CLP.
- Understand the objectives of maintenance and production departments and to resolve or make provisions for, any conflict of objectives.
- Discuss and resolve any human relation problems and issues affecting your team to ensure positive work environment in the company
Training
The training requirements of your role are those where you have accountability for the development of your subordinates. You will be assessed on how well these requirements are met:
- Coordinate with the General Manager on all aspects of training.
- Ensure any skill deficiencies the team may have are discussed and addressed by the General Manager.
- Actively participate in the company’s quality and environmental management processes and identify training needs for redress.
- Assist in the training of other team members.
- Willing to partake in supervisory skills training.

Initiate policies, plans, projects, annual targets and objectives to achieve targets within the production and maintenance activities.
- Develop and monitor the performance of maintenance and production activities in line with the operational, financial and administrative guidelines to ensure all plans of CLP are accomplished.
- Recommend purchases for the company as may be deemed necessary in consultation with General Manager.
Key Performance Indicators

- Contribution to effective and efficient production and maintenance processes.
- Maintaining positive relationship with workers, customers and other external stakeholders and to promote the best interest of CLP.
- Achieving satisfactory profit/loss ratio when compared to other Business groups in relation to pre-set standards and trends.
