Key Role and Responsibilities:

The Commercial Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing financial and commercial operations within construction projects. The core role includes ensuring compliance with HSE regulations, managing client and supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and supporting procurement. Collaboration with technical teams ensures projects meet deadlines, quality, and budget. The role involves staff supervision, account reconciliation, and strategic financial analysis, with an emphasis on risk management and improving financial processes to support project success and business objectives.

Leadership/managing people
  • Supervision of accountants and commercial Senior Staff.
  • Administration and support on insurance cases.

Safety and environment
  • Implement and enforce HSE regulations and policy.

Financial performance
  • Collection of Data (work report, delivery notes, store issue slips, invoices), verification of costs, database management and distribution to other sites.
  • Reconciliation and of complete charges to other sites of all resources and costs.
  • Review & control of incoming charges from other sites
  • General cost control and analysis.
  • Review, preparation (input (VoP, Interest, etc.) and verification of invoices to clients.
  • Commercial reporting profit and lost statements, cashflow.
  • Budget projections and analysis on a quarterly basis.
  • Analysis of cost versus estimate quantities and costs.
  • Reconciliation of accounts (SAP).
  • Support procurement and logistics for materials related to project requirements.

Time performance
  • Collaboration with the Technical Manager to ensure project meets major milestones and is completed on time.

Quality
  • Collaboration with the Technical Manager to ensure project meets major milestones and is completed on time, and within the quality standards and within the project budget.

Customer
  • Liaison with the financial team of the customer, to ensure customer needs are being met, follow up on invoice payment and certification.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers

Subcontractors/suppliers
  • Negotiation of contract terms and costs agreements with support from the Contracts Department.
  • Collaborate with the Purchasing department to identify, evaluate and select suppliers and vendors.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business science or equivalent.
  • 3-5+ years’ work experience, with a min of 2 years’ experience in an international construction company in a role with a strong finance focus
  • Proficient in SAP for accounting and other relevant financial technologies
  • Familiarity of contract law, construction contracts, and legal implications.
  • Knowledge of negotiating and managing contracts effectively.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis, budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting.
  • Ability to manage project budgets, analyse financial data, and make strategic financial decisions.
  • Knowledge in identifying and mitigating potential financial risks in construction projects, ensuring compliance with regulations, and implementing risk mitigation measures.
  • Strong negotiation skills for dealing with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to achieve favourable terms.
  • Knowledge of market trends, industry standards, and economic factors affecting the construction industry.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and methodologies.
  • Coordinating and overseeing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Effective communication with internal teams, clients, and external partners, clear and concise written and verbal communication in English.
  • Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration, and resolving conflicts.
  • Capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and industry professionals
  • Being adaptable to changing project requirements, industry trends, and business environments.
