For one of our clients, a global coffee trading company operating in 15 producing countries, we are seeking a Human Rights Specialist with field experience and expertise in the agricultural commodity sector.

The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in developing practical solutions to tackle human rights challenges such as child labor, workers' rights, and gender equality within intricate Agri-Supply chains.

This role is pivotal in ensuring socially responsible and sustainable operations while assisting our clients in achieving their sustainability objectives. The Human Rights Specialist must have technical proficiency in human rights issues and the capacity to conceive, communicate, and coordinate projects across diverse regions and functions.

Key Responsibilities:
- Spearhead the Human Rights component of the IMPACT sustainability sourcing program, concentrating on child protection, workers' rights, and gender equality.
- Ensure that human rights criteria are integrated into the IMPACT program in line with internal standards and pertinent regulations.
- Offer expert guidance to country project teams on formulating and executing initiatives that address human rights, specifically focusing on gender equality, child labor, and workers' rights.
- Devise and implement tools such as risk assessments, gender analyses, policies, and impact assessment surveys.
- Develop and deliver worldwide training materials on crucial human rights themes.
- Contribute to the formulation of policies, tools, and due diligence processes for human rights.
- Establish monitoring and reporting frameworks to assess the impact of human rights interventions within the IMPACT supply chains.
- Utilize monitoring data to adapt programs, ensuring continuous enhancement and accountability.

Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in social sciences, agriculture, international development, or a related field.
- Experience: Demonstrated success in addressing human rights within extensive private or public agricultural or rural development projects.

Technical Skills:
- Proficient in crafting and executing human rights strategies like child labor monitoring systems and gender analyses.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities, with a knack for creating innovative solutions to intricate problems.
- Experience in devising, executing, and evaluating programs that combat human rights issues, concentrating on child protection, workers' rights, and gender equality.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to prioritize and manage resources efficiently.
- Willingness to travel to field locations to offer technical support and oversee program implementation.

Soft Skills:
- Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to translate complex issues into actionable solutions.
- Culturally aware and adept at collaborating across diverse backgrounds and viewpoints.
- Receptive to feedback and self-improvement, with a proactive mindset.
- Capable of working autonomously and in partnership with a global, remote team.

Location:
This is a global role, with a preference for candidates based in East Africa.
