Types of contracts
Posted on 25 août, 2023 by Jobnet Africa
One of the main questions we get during our briefings calls with prospect clients is ‘what do we actually pay this candidate’?
Because we’re also trying to find out what a range is or budget for the package of the future candidates, because we don’t want to waste the employers time with coming up with way too expensive candidates for them. Often the question is pushed back to asking, what do you think?
There are so many factors to take into account. Obviously, there’s a difference between an expat contract and a local contract or a local plus contract.
An expat would entail a lot of extra benefits. They would for instance entail, housing, tickets, insurance, a car plus family. It could also include schooling, pension, an extra bonus, moving allowance and the list goes on. That would be a full expat package. We don’t see that much anymore, a lot of these packages have not become local plus packages, where you get similar benefits, not as extended, but your contract is local. So, in essence it is not a total expat package anymore. You will probably still get housing allowance, a car, plane tickets, and medical insurance, but not necessarily for the whole family, or in a different way that it’s been setup.
The last one is a local contract. It’s basically a lump sum, a gross salary where you do everything from. Obviously, It could have some pension benefits or a bonus still on top, but those are the three main type of contracts that we see. And then, per African country, per sector, per seniority, there’s a lot of factors that need to be taken in account.
