Contingent and exclusive recruitment: the difference for you
Posted on 11 April, 2025 by JobnetAfrica
Have you ever been in a situation where you offered a candidate a contract and then the candidate came back to you and informed you he signed a contract with another company, maybe even a direct competitor? You have already rejected all the other candidates and you are disappointed, to say the least.
This was really a stand-out candidate and basically, you are back at square one and have to start the recruitment process all over again. This has cost you a lot of time (and money) and nothing has moved forward.
This could have happened because you worked with your recruiter on a contingent basis. The recruiter works on a ‘no cure no pay’ basis and doesn’t work exclusively for you. This means he is also open to offering the candidates he proposed to you to your competitors. The candidate might opt for another employer or his price will go up because he has other options.
When you work with a recruiter on an exclusive basis, the recruiter will solely work with you. It is more a partnership where you commit to your recruiter and your recruiter will commit to you. They are now willing to invest in the search, putting their best people on it and will offer the best candidates exclusively to you.
Would you like to know more about how working with a recruiter on an exclusive basis will benefit you in the end? Send me an email at inez@jobnetafrica.com and I’ll be happy to help.
