Always open to new ideas and perspectives, I moved from the Netherlands to South Africa over seven years ago. I wanted to learn what it is like to live abroad and experience dealing with different cultures. It has been quite an adventure ever since.

My journey has led me past several companies (large and small) in various industries, ranging from offshore oil and gas and engineering to manufacturing and logistics.

I am passionate about creating a sense of belonging, purpose and ownership within organisations. The right leadership is critical to achieve these goals.

Combining my passion and experience, allows me to bring a valuable perspective in supporting companies to find the leaders they need.

Originally from Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, my journey has taken me from England and New Zealand to Johannesburg before settling in the vibrant city of Cape Town.

With a background spanning marketing, branding, production, project management, and sales, I’ve developed into a versatile professional who thrives on learning, adapting, and bringing fresh ideas to the table.

At JobnetAfrica, my role as Business Development Specialist centers on connecting talent with opportunity and delivering recruitment success across Africa and beyond. I’m passionate about helping organizations find the right people to drive meaningful growth and long-term impact. My experience extends across diverse industries, including Agriculture, Renewable Energy, Construction, Banking, Finance, Fintech, Insurance, FMCG, IT, Engineering, and Commodities.

I believe in building lasting partnerships, aligning exceptional talent with critical business needs, and ensuring a smooth, results-driven recruitment experience.

I’m the Head of Delivery at JobnetAfrica, where I have a combined role of executive search and leading our recruitment output and processes, helping companies find the talent they need to grow across the continent.

With experience in both agency and in-house environments, I’ve worked with organisations of all sizes and are comfortable navigating complex hiring needs. After working in education and tech hiring for most of my career, JobnetAfrica came along and I decided to try some new industries.

JobnetAfrica provides the platform to help businesses that are creating opportunities in interesting locations with various cultures and languages – there is always space to learn or meet someone new. I believe the value we bring as recruiters is to bring clarity and practical solutions to problems, seeing each assignment as a true partnership.

Outside of work, I take a balanced approach to health and life, enjoying sports (anything from getting my heart rate up with a game of squash or resetting with a yoga session), the outdoors, adventure, art, reading (from murder mysteries to self-help) and searching for the best Asian food wherever I go.

I believe a healthy level of discipline, mindfulness and a sense of humour is key to bringing your best self to work and enjoying life.

Having spent numerous years studying and working in The Netherlands, I eventually embarked on a journey to explore the vibrant and dynamic world. This adventure led me to South Africa. Little did I know that this trip would be a pivotal moment in my life.

My association with JobnetAfrica as a Sr Executive Recruiter marks a significant chapter in my career. I’ve embraced the challenge of comprehensively understanding our clients’ needs and delving into the essence of their company cultures.

This deep understanding enables me to connect with candidates who not only align with the company but also thrive and relish the experience of working in Africa. After having lived in many European countries I found out that there is still a whole world out there! Africa has been fascinating me ever since. With over 15 years of experience in intercultural communication as a translator and interpreter for German, Italian, English and French (now adding Portuguese), I have worked for several companies by helping them open up a new market and find new business chances in other countries. As an insider I have had the opportunity to understand how companies work and how important it is to have a good team and employees you can rely on.

One year ago I came across JobnetAfrica and I thought: what a great idea! This is exactly the link that was missing to connect enthusiastic professionals with companies willing to set up a business in Africa or already established there.

As a language expert I love communicating with people around the world trying to understand their needs and bringing them together. For me human factors and interpersonal relations are of the utmost importance and do make a difference when it comes to helping jobseekers and companies reach their goals. Currently based between Rome and Austria.

About 20 years ago I decided to move to Johannesburg for a year. One year became many years and after moving around the African continent for a while, I have now settled down in Franschhoek, South Africa.

I have been part of JobnetAfrica since 2016 and have never looked back ever since. I’m wearing different caps within the company. Amongst other things, I’m involved in the finance and research, so sourcing the right candidates for the right roles.

Because of my versatility and my extensive experience living in Africa as a foreigner, I’m originally from the Netherlands, I believe I have a good understanding of what is asked of candidates and companies doing business in Africa.

My day-to-day involves managing social media and multi-channel campaigns, optimizing processes through automation, and helping strengthen our brand presence across Africa.

Born and raised in the beautiful province of Mpumalanga, South Africa, I’m proud to call Swati my home language. With a background in law and a career built in business development and sales within the recruitment technology space, I’ve always been drawn to work that connects people, purpose, and potential.

As a Growth and Marketing Associate at JobnetAfrica, I play a key role in optimising and automating our lead generation processes to drive consistent growth. I manage communication workflows for our business development team, from designing structured engagement processes to providing comprehensive communication support across all channels, enabling the team to focus on building meaningful client relationships. I also support the marketing function by contributing to the execution of content and campaign strategies that strengthen our brand and engagement.
